A situation where a famous brand or service mark is used in a context that tarnishes the brand's reputation for quality or obscures its distinctiveness. In this case, there is trademark infringement, although there is no risk of confusion for the customer, which is normally necessary for trademark infringement. For example, it was decided that the use of the word Candyland for a pornographic Internet page diluted the reputation of the Candyland brand for the well-known children's game, although the traditional basis for trademark infringement (probable customer confusion) was not an issue.

The act of freeing someone from bondage or shackles. For example, on January 1, 1863, slaves in the Confederate States were declared free by an executive order by President Lincoln known as the "Emancipation Proclamation". After the Civil War, this emancipation was extended to the entire country and enshrined in law through the ratification of the Thirteenth Amendment to the Constitution. Emancipation today denotes the point at which a child is freed from parental control. It occurs when the child's parents fail to fulfill their parental responsibilities and abdicate their rights to custody, custody and acquisition of the minor child. Emancipation may be the result of a voluntary agreement between the parents and the child, or it may result from their actions and ongoing behavior. For example, a child who leaves the parental home and becomes fully independent without their objections is considered emancipated, while a child who moves in with a friend or relative and works part-time is not. Emancipation can also occur when a minor child marries or enlists in the armed forces.

A term that usually refers to a lawsuit - for example, "I filed my small claims case". “Case” also refers to a written decision by a judge – or, in the case of an appeal, by a jury. For example, the US Supreme Court decision to legalize abortion is commonly referred to as Roe v. referred to as Wade. Finally, the term also describes the evidence that a party presents to support its position - for example, "I have presented my case" or "My main case is closed".

Trial courts use it when deciding who will care for a child. For example, an adoption is only permissible if a court has declared that it is in the best interests of the child. Likewise, when asked to decide on custody issues in a divorce case, the judge will base his decision on the best interests of the child. And the same test is used when judges decide whether a child should be removed from home for neglect or abuse. Factors the court will consider in deciding the best interests of the child include: the child's age and sex, the child's physical and mental health, the parents' physical and mental health, the parents' lifestyle and other social factors, and the emotional ties between parents and child Parents' ability to provide child with food, shelter, clothing, and medical care Established living standards for child in relation to school, home, community, and religious institutions Quality of schooling and child's preferences.

A person who supports and supports in a household one or more persons who are closely related to him by blood, marriage or adoption. Under federal income tax law, you qualify as a head of household only if you are single and have a family that is the primary residence (more than half of the year) of dependent children or other dependent relatives. According to the Bankruptcy Court and Exemption Laws, the terms head of household and "head of household" mean the same thing. Examples are a single woman supporting her disabled sister and her own children, or a single man supporting his parents. Many states also consider a single person as the head of household.

A method of defining ownership of assets acquired during the marriage in which all income earned during the marriage and all assets acquired therefrom are considered joint property and all debts incurred during the marriage are considered jointly owned debts. There are community property laws in Arizona, California, Idaho, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas, Washington and Wisconsin. Compare equitable distribution and separate ownership.

A type of adoption used by agencies to keep a child out of foster care during the adoption process. The child is placed with the adoptive parents before the biological mother has legally given up her right to raise the child. If she then decides not to waive her rights, the adoptive parents must return the child. This is a risk for adoptive parents who could lose a child they are used to.
